Description

This Surgical Oncology virtual mock oral course is a comprehensive review designed to help you pass the Surgical Oncology oral exam.  This hands-on approach mirrors the format used in the American Board of Surgery oral board exam.  Participants engage in 30-minute mock oral sessions that review cases and practice everyday clinical scenarios.

In addition to experiencing practical, organic mock oral exams, participants will receive a brief assessment and guidance from our accomplished faculty mock oral examiners.  Also, they will have the opportunity to refine their thinking and communication skills. This will improve their ability to make informed decisions.

As a bonus with your registration, participants can access pre-recorded virtual one-on-one mock oral sessions between individual candidates and our top faculty, covering all required topic areas.  Additionally, one complimentary virtual mock oral session is included.  Participants may purchase as many additional virtual private mock oral sessions as needed.

The meeting will be conducted via Zoom Cloud Meetings, enabling audio and visual interaction between you and the faculty.  It is recommended to have a computer with a stable internet connection to participate.  With this online webinar course, you get the best of both worlds – the comfort and safety of your home or office.  Additionally, you have the chance to learn from the Osler Faculty and your peers.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, each participant should be able to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the multidisciplinary clinical evaluation and sophisticated diagnostic workup, including advanced imaging modalities, for patients with complex surgical oncology needs.
  • Formulate and illustrate in-depth knowledge of comprehensive, multimodal disease management plans, encompassing surgical resection, invasive and adjuvant therapies (chemotherapy, radiation), and effective risk factor modulation in the oncology context.
  • Analyze and discuss the nuanced preoperative risk assessment and intricate operative/postoperative critical care procedures specific to the high-acuity surgical oncology patient undergoing extensive vascular reconstruction or tumor extirpation.
  • Synthesize and summarize indications for, and techniques of, complex open operative treatments and radical resections for oncologic disorders.
  • Evaluate and describe the indications for and technical considerations relating to cutting-edge endovascular interventions and reconstructions within the challenging landscape of cancer treatment.
  • Articulate and describe any randomly chosen complex surgical oncologic operation, from initial patient selection and procedural setup through definitive reconstruction and closure.

Guarantee

The Osler “Until You Pass” Guarantee

The Osler Institute is committed to providing high-quality education to our learners. We offer courses that are guaranteed to help them confidently pass their examinations. In the unlikely event that a learner does not pass their examination, we allow them to re-enroll in a course tuition-free* until they succeed. Suppose you have attended an Osler course or subscribed to an online review and failed the examination for which the course was designed within the following nine months. In that case, you can re-enroll in an Osler course or resubscribe to the same term online review until you pass. This offer is tuition-free, but a corresponding failed examination attempt must precede each free course.
Please be aware that the course registration fee does not cover hotel costs, meeting amenities, or any additional mock orals or study materials. If you want to enroll in a course under the guarantee, please make sure that you complete the enrollment process more than 30 days before the course start date. By doing so, you can avoid any late fees that may apply if you enroll after this time frame.

*Some restrictions apply: The course must be equal to or lesser value than the previous course. You may upgrade to a different course at a discounted rate. If the same course isn’t available, we offer a three-month subscription-based course in its place. Additional mock orals or a la carte course options are excluded from our guarantee option.
